Bucks skipper Tom Hampton has spoken to Sports Shots ahead of the 2021 Nurton-York Trophy clash.
Speaking of 2021 so far, Hampton told Sports Shots:
With the disappointment of the cancelled T20 competition, also came the opportunity of an extended pre-season, a luxury that we don’t often get. Especially given the opportunity to solely focus on the one format.
We started with an inter-squad day which was really pleasing, to field 24 Bucks eligible players and play such a competitive match was great to see.
That was followed with two games against Herts. Unfortunately we didn’t win either game, but there were positives to take from both games, on two very different surfaces. Herts look a strong outfit and it was brilliant to sort out the fixtures with them, hopefully we will meet them in the knock out stages.
Attention now turns to this Sunday’s Trophy game.
This weekend is the Nurton-York Cup. Its a great addition to the calendar and to play against a strong side in a competitive game before the competition is the ideal way to finish pre season. Hopefully the weather plays its part and we put together all the parts from pre season and get the win to take into the competition.
I think the squad’s in a really good place and we are really looking forward to getting stuck into a tough group, play some good aggressive cricket and hopefully progress to the knock out stages.
