Choice Cricket Village T20 League Knockout Quarter-Final see’s boundaries galore
Buckland & Aston Clinton CC – 150 for 1 off 11.4 overs
Ivinghoe & Pitstone CC – 148 for 4 off 20 overs
An incredible 98 runs from just 43 balls by Peter Allam saw Buckland & Aston Clinton CC smash their way through to the Choice Cricket Village T20 League Knockout Semi-Final on Wednesday evening; set 149 for victory by their guests the home side knocked the runs off in just seventy deliveries to win by nine wickets. In all fairness Ivinghoe had started their innings like they were going to post a huge total, but Clinton took key wickets just at the right time to slow the run rate during a match that saw storm clouds mixed with clear blue skies, a little rain but nothing serious enough to halt proceedings as the hosts look for more cup competition success.
Buckland won the toss and put their visitors into bat, and immediately looked to be in trouble as Jonny Badrick & Matt Dimbleby found the boundaries regularly on their way to forty-eight before the former was caught by Mark Ludlow off the bowling of Max Burgess with his score on 32. Dimbleby fell shortly after when Thomas Patel removed his bails, but from there Channappa Padanur & Darren Badrick paired up to make forty-seven between them until Allam removed Padanur for thirty-one, Badrick went three runs later but again Alex Groom & Adam Culley dug in to add another thirty-three to the scoreboard.
Any hopes Ivinghoe had of early wickets were dashed as Allam & Ludlow reached fifty in just four overs, the search for balls in the hedges was relentless as the openers raced past the hundred mark with ease, Ludlow was finally caught for thirty-seven with the hosts needing just thirty-seven more runs to win with over half the innings remaining. Allam went on to make ninety-eight not out which included elevens 4’s and six 6’s, Thomas Patel ending the game twelve not out.
