The consultation deadline for the new purpose-built Winslow Sports Hub has been extended to Monday 31 January 2022.
Buckinghamshire Council is proposing to provide a new purpose-built sports hub on land at Redfield Farm (opposite the Sir Thomas Fremantle School).
The proposal
The new purpose-built sports hub would replace the current outdated facilities on the site in Central Winslow, next to the library, and aim to provide additional facilities not currently available in Winslow. The new site has been chosen because of its proximity to the town and good transport links with the new train station being built opposite.
With input from our local and national sporting groups, we have developed the sporting offering proposed on this site.
We are interested in your views about the proposed new sports facilities set out in the Winslow Sports Hub masterplan.
The facilities include:
3G football pitch
Grass rugby pitch
Three tennis courts
Modern and inviting amenity building with community and social space
8.3 hectares of green open recreational space
2.4 km of pathways
1.8km of hard surfaced paths
Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) used for sports like netball.
Skatepark
Land around the pitches will be open for local people, with attractive wildlife areas to preserve and enhance the natural habitats on the site.
The new amenity building will include 4 changing rooms (2 for team games and 2 for other uses). It also includes a social space with bar / café, possible food provision and a community hall with independent kitchenette for parties and other low impact activities.
The amenity building and paths will be wheelchair accessible.
Whilst Buckinghamshire Council has not set charges for the use of the facilities yet, our commitment is to ensure that prices are competitive and not excessive. We want local people to use the facilities on offer and make this development a success.
Winslow Town Council has also kindly agreed to help fund a skatepark that will be free for all ages to use. This dynamic and exciting sport is now carried out by Olympians. The facility here will be open to all to just turn up and skate.
