Sports Shots are pleased to announce that our partner, the S4 Academy, have launched an amazing ‘Further education programme’ for students.

Explain the new venture and how it will work?
Our S4 Academy and Education programme is a course for further education students who have an interest in sport. The course is open for both boys and girls to apply and will be run from Monday to Friday. The programme also includes sports training every day and will include playing in a football match on a Wednesday afternoon.
What benefits/qualifications from the scheme will there be?
The course being studied will be the NCFE Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport (Performance and Excellence). The qualification achieved is the equivalent to 3 A Levels. The course will cover 18 modules across the 2 year programme.
Across the 2 year programme, the students will also have the opportunity to obtain the further qualifications:
– FA Level 1 and Level 2 in Football.
– Various First Aid and Safeguarding qualifications.
– GCSE Maths and English (if required).
When will the programme start?
The 5 day programme will officially start in September 2022. The dates and programme will be in line with other local secondary school term timetables in the area.
Who is eligible for it?
The programme is eligible for students aged between 16-18 years old. Our entry requirements are that the students should have achieved 4x GCSEs at grade 4-9.
Where will it be based?
It will predominantly be based at the Moretonville Juniors site in Buckingham. However, we have also partnered with our neighbours Brackley Town who have also provided us with exclusive use of their facility throughout the year.
What exit routes are available?
Throughout the 2 year course, the students will have the opportunity to experience sports coaching and working with children across various settings in the local area. We believe that this hands-on experience will give them a good understanding of what certain career prospects look like.
However, our other exit routes do include:
– University
– Higher National Diploma
– Semi / Professional Football Opportunities
– Sports Coaching (within the S4A Group)
– Coaching in USA
– Sport and Leisure Industry Jobs
How do you apply?
Firstly, we would like to welcome and encourage any students eligible for the programme to attend our taster days. This will give them an insight into what our programme has to offer and how it can enhance their development and education.
We have 3 taster days coming up on Friday 25th February, Thursday 21st April and Wednesday 1st June 2022. All of the taster days will run from 10am-1pm at our Moretonville venue.
After attending one of our taster days, we will then invite the applicants to an interview prior to being accepted onto the programme.
