Buckingham Town ended their 2023 campaign with a victory!
Buckingham hosted Chesham for their final game of the 2023 season, and with both sides safe from relegation and unable to go up, there was a touch of end of season vibes about the game.
The hosts won the toss and bowled first, making the perfect start as Chad Barrett had Chesham captain Mark Eteen caught behind from the first ball of the match. That was just the start as Jake Tarling claimed the key wicket of Richard Levi in his first over before then taking two in his second over. Barrett then took his second which left Chesham 19 for 5 in the fifth over. Umar Aslam tried to hit his way out of trouble, scoring 10 from 7 balls before becoming Tarling’s fourth victim. Barrett followed that up with his third to leave the score 30 for 7 in just the seventh over. James Misseldine and Simardeep Singh battled it out for 22 balls, but two further wickets in two overs for Barrett left them 47 for 8. The final pair offered the most resistance with an innings high partnership of 12, Jonathan Burden making 8 at number 11 before he edged Ewan Cox to Tarling in the slips to see Chesham bowled out for 59 in just 15.3 overs. Barrett took 5 for 25 and Tarling 4 for 28.
Cox and Rob Large set about the chase in aggressive style. They raced to a partnership of 54 in just seven overs when, within sight of victory, Cox was lbw to Kamran Khan for 29. Khan then bowled Hashan Ramanadanpulle first ball before Large (25 not out) saw the hosts home to win by 8 wickets with over 41 overs to spare.
