Finmere romped to victory against Twyford United in this North Bucks & District Football League Intermediate Division clash, seven up by half-time was not harsh on the visitors who really could have conceded many more had the hosts been more clinical with their finishing.
The first seven goals came in a breathtaking thirty-two minute first-half spell, between the first five the home side also managed to strike the post twice, with several other good chances fired wide, over the top, or straight at the visiting keeper.
United did pull two back after the break however let in a further three, with only one substitute on the day there was little the away side could do to try and stem the tide although the hosts being reduced to ten men fifteen minutes into the second half did help somewhat.
Finmere dominated from the start but took until the thirteenth minute to open the scoring, Ben Thomas getting on the end of a cross from the right to swivel and fire low past United custodian Godfrey Philipsz, and from that point it was then all about the team in red.
Within ninety seconds of the first, Thomas doubled his and his sides tally after a long punt upfield saw him lose his marker to advance into the box and convert, it was even quicker for the third as the United restart went out of play, the throw released Ewan Barnard to bend low around Philipsz.
Skipper Robert How got in on the act moments later as he was the last amongst a line of red shirts queueing up in the middle to convert another right wing cross, Charlie Haley then played away down the flank teed up Jason Ronald to make it five with just twenty-three minutes played.
Barnard got his second as another long ball down the left saw him away on goal to despatch comfortably, his hattrick complete on the stroke of half-time as he capitalised after confusion on the edge of the Twyford box between keeper and defender.
At the break Finmere made five changes but it made little difference as within two minutes Ollie Cain got the goal his hard work in the first period had warranted, an initial shot blocked by Philipsz rebounding perfectly for the front man to stroke home.
Moments later Ryan Dumbarton got in on the act as a cross from the right came back off the post and sat up for the substitute to head over the line, but on the hour mark Twyford were awarded a penalty after a foul on the lively Nelson Goodluck.
Leo Long converted from the twelve-yard spot, and as the players regrouped around the centre circle, Finmere were reduced in numbers as Jake Anderson received a second yellow for comments made to the official.
The home side broke into double figures on seventy-one minutes as Ollie Cain out on the touchline delivered across the face of goal where Dumbarton muscled through to bag his second of the game, there was a late second for United when Goodluck finished from the left of the area. F/T: 10-2
