Marsh Gibbon progressed to the Semi Finals of the Berks and Bucks David Grainge Junior Cup on Saturday with a hard-working victory over East Berkshire League side Berks Elite.
The Robins had 3 superb early chances that fell to Joe Burnham and new signing Sol Janecki but neither could convert and it would be the visitors that opened the scoring through Oliver Schafer on 11 minutes which in truth went with the run of play in the first 15 to 20 minutes.
Elite were moving the ball incredibly well and The Robins had to grow into the game patiently. Marsh were always going to have chances but it was always going to be about whether they could put them away. A blank first half meant they went in 0-1 down.
HT 0-1
The second half was all Marsh Gibbon as they took the game to the visitors. Alex Clarke and eventual Man of the Match Tom Leonard were marauding down the wings from full back and making all sort of problems for the away side and the latter was having a superb day with the dead ball sending delivery after delivery into dangerous areas.
Tom Leonard would turn provider and this put Marsh firmly in the driving seat, but not before a cross from Ash McIlrath allowed Prince Nahimana to slot in at the back post to level things up before Stu Leonard fired home into the bottom corner following a Tom Leonard corner.
Berks Elite were tiring and man of the moment Abdou Jallow, despite not seeing much of the ball all game made sure he did what was needed when called upon by adding a third after he was sent clear by Tom Leonard to cement the Robins place in the County Cup Semi Final.
