New Bradwell St Peter Ladies long county cup run came to an end on Sunday, as Barclay’s Women’s Championship outfit Reading Women sent their U21 side to the Recreation Ground and had the game sewn up by the break with three clinical first half strikes.
The claret & blue defence were under the cosh for the majority of the game, once again keeper Shayla Burgess pulling off several fine saves but powerless to stop the three goals which saw Reading progress through to the Berks & Bucks FA Women’s Senior Cup Final.
The Berkshire side broke the deadlock on nineteen minutes when Mia Bradley was fed in behind to convert, Rebecca Tinnelly then had a couple of chances go wide of the target before Stevie Kennedy saw Burgess deny brilliantly to earn warm applause from those in attendance.
Despite all their hard work to repel their guests, a second goal eventually arrived eight minutes before the break, a simple ball played over the home backline saw Tinnelly race away into the box before opening her body up to bend into the far bottom corner.
Despite losing Freya Meadows Tuson moments later to a sin bin, Reading bagged a third in the final minute of the half when Ellie Manners fed twenty-five yards out eluded a challenge before rifling home from the edge of the area. F/T: 0-3
