United impose Levy on Town defence

Broadfields United bagged their first win of the season after a stunning opening forty-five at Wokingham Town last Saturday, David Levy helping himself to a thirty-minute hattrick as the orange & black defence struggled against his pace.
The Sumas hopes were hampered being forced into two early substitutions, the first of which led to the visitors breaking the deadlock; Joao Jarmin offered a glimpse of hope just before the half hour however Levy completed his treble seconds later to restore the two-goal cushion.
After a blistering start on a pleasantly warm afternoon in Berkshire, the game levelled out until the final twenty minutes, which then produced another four strikes to add to this Combined Counties League Premier Division North contest.
The team in blue gave their opponents an early warning of what to expect when Levy escaped in behind the Wokingham backline, as he approached goal a superb sliding tackle from Kasper Hok resulted in the ball rebounding up into the waiting gloves of Sean Woodward.
But just past the quarter hour mark the home side were forced into a change when Ollie Turner limped off, the restart from a throw saw the impending hattrick hero released upfield from where he cut inside & rolled past the keeper.
Seconds later Woodward had to tip over a threatening cross from the United right, but the advantage soon doubled as Jordan Grey delivered from the left edge of the six-yard box and Levy got between bodies on the line to stick out a leg and convert.
But Town pulled one back as a poor clearance landed at the feet of Jarmin, his twenty-five-yard effort creeping in despite a touch from away custodian Miraldie Ndunzi, but hope didn’t last long as the unchallenged Broadfield number nine scored from a Junior Paiva delivery.
But Sumas steadied the ship and went close before the interval as first Jardim from the acutest of angles crossed with the ball brushing the bar on its way over, Brandon Curtis then put through rounded the keeper only for his goal bound effort to be cleared off the line.
It was the Middlesex clubs turn then to make a substitution as Ndunzi didn’t reappear after the break, Darren Brown donning the gloves, but within seconds Wokingham were again raising the boards, this time Tom Jordan hobbling towards the bench.
Town started much better and saw more creative possession but without finding a way through, but on the hour, they had Woodward to thank as Levy again breached the offside trap but the shot-stopper got down well to block.
But the front man wasn’t to be denied for long, a delivery from the right created confusion in the middle allowing him to nip in and head home, the deficit reduced again when a corner flicked on by Curtis saw Franki Pashias on the back post unable to prevent the ball crossing the line.
Again, the hosts raised their game only to be sunk with another goal on the break, substitute Keanu Williams sent upfield all on his own before opening his body to fire low past Woodward, despite getting something on the shot it rolled into the empty net.
In added time Town did reduce the advantage once more, a deep inswinger met on the edge of the six-yard box by Archie Collier who side footed back across the area for the incoming James Clark to smash down & in off the crossbar. F/T: 3-5
