Rhys Lewis saw his Wargrave side go to the summit in the second division as they inflicted an order collapse on Ickenham to win by 150 runs.
Mark Firth’s four for 39 and Nilesh Bhandari’s three for 28 combined to take five wickets for just five runs as the visitors collapsed from 158 for 5 to 163 all out. Nikhil Nair was again amongst the runs as he made over half the total with an excellent 89.
Earlier, the Wargrave batters were all in form as they declared on a competitive 313 for 8 in 54 overs. Skipper Rhys Lewis (47) and Ewan Woods (40) gave their side a solid start, before Andrew MacEwen top scored with 77, including eight boundaries, from the number four berth. Toby Greatwood and Jayden Barson added impetus as the pair both reached half centuries. Greatwood hit 57 from 42 balls, which included 5 fours and 3 sixes, while Barson made 53 from just 44 balls (6 x 4s & a 6).
Challow & Childrey produced an upset as the bottom placed side recorded their first victory of the season over joint morning leaders Gerrards Cross by 20 runs.
Theo Hutt produced a match-winning spell of seven for 30 from twelve overs as Gerrards Cross imploded as they lost their last five wickets for just three runs. Only Chris Marrow (49) and Hugo Hammond (41) making significant contributions.
Dylan Crees (54) proving his worth as the Challow & Childrey overseas as he made another fifty as the home side made 154 all out in 39.5 overs.
There was drama at The Meadow as Chesham pulled off a narrow 16-run victory over Stoke Green thanks to the displays of James Anderson and Moiz Rana.
It was the visitors who looked set for success as they needed 40 to win with seven wickets in hand before the match-winning duo of Rana and Anderson combined to remove the Stoke Green dangerman, Prabhnavjot Singh, who despatched eight boundaries (5 x 4s and 3 x 6s) on his way to 59. The right-arm seam of Anderson took scalps at regular intervals as catches were held in tandem with some sharp work behind the timbers by their talented Bucks wicketkeeper Daksh Saherwal. The last two victims coming off successive balls to dismiss Stoke Green for 161 all out. Anderson finishing with seven for 47 from 13.3 overs.
Rana had opened for Chesham at the start of play and anchored the innings with 86 from 154 balls in his 201 minute stay at the crease. Anderson added 27 with two sixes, as Rana was the last batter out as Chesham posted 177 all out. Stoke Green seamer Tegh Sehgal picked up four for 27.
Julian Laird’s century, supported by Brendon Smith, helped guide Oxford from an early scare to take a seven wicket win over Horspath at Jordan Hill.
The pair came together at 17 for 3 after the visitors had posted 188 all out in 57 overs. They navigated the quality of the visitors attack to see their side home as they shared an unbeaten fourth wicket partnership worth 171 runs. Laird finished undefeated on 110 from 105, containing fourteen boundaries (10 x 4s & 4 x 6s), while Smith closed on a defiant 58 not out.
Earlier, Sravan Konidena (99) fell one short of a century as he led the way for Horspath from the opener’s position. Horspath’s batters did not fire as the seam of Brad Taylor (4-41) and the spin of Alfie Smethurst (3-36) reduced them to 188 all out in 57 overs.
The bowling of Dinny Malan and Hassam Mushtaq set up Thame Town‘s six wicket victory over Datchet at Church Meadow.
Malan claimed four for 38, while his captain Mushtaq picked up four for 7 as they combined to dismiss Datchet for 78 all out. Only former Dorset batter David Scott (40) making any contribution.
Alex Browne’s 33 from just 22 balls eased any nerves as his six boundaries saw Town to an early victory.
