The 2026 Home Counties Premier Cricket League, Division Two season is hotting up!
Wargrave skipper Rhys Lewis struck an incredible undefeated 224 as his side defeated Ickenham by 150 runs at Oak Avenue.
Lewis struck the highest-ever Division Two score and become only the sixth player to make a double century in the league. His record came from 150 balls and included 24 fours and 10 sixes. He shared a fourth wicket partnership of 207 with Andrew MacEwen, who made 101 from just 78 balls (15x4s & 2x6s).
Wargrave posted a collossal 421 for 4 from their 50 overs.
In reply, Ickenham were always going to struggle but battled to 271 for 8 from their 50 overs. Luke O’Driscoll made an excellent 93 not out while Nikil Nair (64) and Ariyen Patel (45) chipped in.
Datchet remain the leaders of the division after they beat Thame Town by 117 runs at the Wally Gage Memorial Ground.
Joseph Thomas stroked a brilliant century as he made 104 from 90 balls in an innings including 17 fours and a six. A sixth wicket stand of 82 between Rahim Akhtar and Tom Bevan (39) helped build on their platform. Akhtar eventually fell just two short of a ton from 88 balls (8x4s & 3x6s). Joshua Jayasingh took Datchet to the close with a quickfire 37 from just 18 balls as his team posted 346 for 8 from their allocation.
Thame’s chase was stunted by David Scott who flew back from Cape Town as his five for 37 from eight overs saw the visitors finish on 229 all out in 41 overs. Alex Tervet (58) and Jonathon Jelfs (34) the only batters to contribute as Scott added two catches to top a fine display.
Gerrards Cross remain third, just five points off the leaders, after they comprehensively defeated Challow & Childrey by 160 runs in Oxfordshire.
After electing to bat, the visitors saw their opener Henry Walsh plunder runs as he made a stunning 151 at the top of the order. His 160-minute knock contained 14 fours and 9 sixes from just 144 balls. Walsh shared a second wicket stand worth 196 runs with Chris Marrow who added 84 from 85 balls as Gerrards Cross closed on 339 for 7 from their allotted 50 overs. Alan Prothero (3-81) and James Newton Savage (3-67) claiming a trio of poles for the home side.
Challow & Childrey’s overseas Dylan Crees smashed a 33-ball half century but they had no answer to the promising Bucks EPP leg spinner Matthew Pannett. The hosts batting line up struggled as Pannett, who played for Northants second eleven in the week, claimed six for 38 in a tidy ten-over stint. They were removed for 179 in 36.3 overs.
Despite being fourth, Oxford are only seven points from top, which adds to an exciting end of the season run in. The Romans maintained their promotion charge with a 71-run success at neighbours Horspath.
Oxford opted to use the willow first and put 270 for 8 on the scoreboard from their 50 overs. Opener Gaajuran Ganagabalan top scored with 62, while team mates Julian Laird (45) and Brendon Smith (47) built on the platform they were given. Saqlain Choudhary’s late order hitting of 37 from just 20 balls pushed the final total upwards.
Bradley Taylor’s opening spell of three for 51 put his side on top before an 87 run last wicket stand added creditabilty to the final Horspath total. Liam Turnbull (43) at number ten and last man Sam Leslie (35 not out) taking their side to 199 all out in 39.1 overs.
Stoke Green eased to a 140-run victory over Chesham after winning the toss and batting first.
Prabhnavjot Singh (37) and Najib Khan (34) scored early runs for Green before Passikku Madusanka (62) took his team past the 300-mark (313-8). Moiz Rana returned with four for 61, while outstanding young wicketkeeper Daksh Sabherwal claimed five catches.
Chesham fell short as they were dismissed for 173 with only Simardeep Singh’s undefeated innings getting into the thirties (36).
