The penultimate weekend of the season saw the second tier of the Home Counties Premier Cricket League suffer a complete washout.
After being inserted, leaders Datchet reached 11 without loss off just the one over played against Gerrards Cross.
The encounter between Horspath and Challow & Childrey saw them play 31 overs before rain brought an early finish. The home side had managed to reach 169 for 4 after they won the toss and opted to bat first. Tom Coleman was unbeaten on 68, while Derval Green (31) also made runs.
With all teams receiving seven points, it sets up a dramatic final day of the season with leaders Datchet travelling to Oxford for a title showdown. Third placed Wargarve, who host Chesham in the final match, could still get promoted if the game at Oxford goes in their favour. Gerrards Cross can still mathematically be promoted but it will take a rare set of circumstances for this to happen.
The season’s climax is guaranteed to be dramatic.
